Whether you just finished painting or just moved into a new house, there might be a few paint stains on the carpet. We all want to get this paint out, but we just can’t figure a way to do it right. This blog will give you tips on how you can easily remove paint from any carpet.

1 Is The Paint Still Wet?

If you just spilled some paint onto the carpet and it is still wet, quickly grab a paper towel, a cloth/rag, or some tissue and start blotting (not scrubbing) the paint immediately. While the paint is still wet it is easy to move it around and remove it from the carpet.

2 The Paint Is Dry

Dry paint may seem impossible to remove from carpet, though it is easier than you may think. Place hot water and soap over the paint stain. Let it sit for a few minutes to soften the paint. When you feel the paint is soft, begin scraping it off the carpet with a knife or some other flat metal object until it comes off of the carpet. If it does not come up, consider using more soapy warm water or use hotter water.

3 Removing Latex Paint

If the paint is still wet, blot it with a towel of some sort to remove as much as possible. Again, do not scrub it or the paint will be moved deeper into the carpet. Prepare a solution of lukewarm water with mild soap detergent (preferably dish soap). Add this solution to the paint starting from the edges of the stain and work toward the middle. Once this is done, let it dry. When it is completely dry, vacuum the area thoroughly.

4 Removing Oil-Based Paint

If the stain is dry, add hot water and wait until the paint is soft. Make sure the water is hot or it will take some time to soften. While adding hot water, agitate the stain with a knife or a needle to break it up. Agitate the stain until all the paint is broken up and removed. Try not to damage the carpet.
